The final sign of the zodiac has arrived! Behold, Pisces, the mutable water sign symbolized by the fish, embodying the final stage of life— the connection to the Divine!
Fun Fact: The majority of my clients are either Pisces or have a major Pisces placement in their chart! Whyyyyy you ask? Well, because besides being the best! (wink wink), they have this innate awareness that there is more than what the eyes and this 3D science-based world would have you believe. They have faith in something bigger that us, than THIS. Although they may not be able to articulate that, Pisces often FEEL more than your average soul. They tend to struggle with knowing what to do with all these feelings and often get overwhelmed. —And let’s be honest, learning how to self-regulate and find healthy ways to manage our feelings is not a wide-spread skill, nor has much focus or importance ever been placed on this in the child-rearing process until recently. Pisces’s first language is feelings— but don’t ask them to name that feeling because they may not know what to call it— but whatever IT is, it’s ALL CONSUMING.
Pisces is ruled by Neptune, God of fresh water and the Sea, and also rules libations— yes, alcohol! Escapism is very closely associated with Neptune and Piscean themes, so it is often seen that the overwhelming sea of emotions that Pisces often finds itself in leads to escapism, often by means of addiction or misusing/abusing alcohol, or dabbling in mind-altering substances.
The beautiful thing about Astrology is that each sign’s archetype includes not only it’s lower expressions of the energy, but the higher vibrations too. Which means to say that perhaps for those with a smaller skill set may find themselves in a constant state of overwhelm followed by escapism, and so on repeat. But for those who’ve decided they’ve suffered long enough, those folks either seek skill development through trained therapists, healers, self-improvement books, etc., and they begin to find that instead of always getting swept up by the tide, they now have a life raft to hang on to and can at last get their heads above water.
Finally in the ascension story of the Pisces archetype you have the Peaceful Warrior— the one who fought their own shadows and darkness and found their way back to themselves— and can lead you through your own darkness. They are the bridge between this world and Source (God/The Universe/etc.) And for those who’ve mastered their own suffering, these are our Healers— the ones who can help guide you through your own storm because they’ve walked the way themselves. And so there’s this beautiful story in the Pisces archetype that begins with its sensitivity and its propensity to be filled to the brim with emotion, escaping through any means necessary, and then consciously deciding to search for “more”, searching for something bigger than all the calamities and angst, where there’s peace and guidance and Divine order. —As a quick aside, isn’t it interesting how this story mimics the principles in Alcoholics Anonymous(AA) where the second step in this program includes finding a Higher Power?! Where the sensitivity without tools was considered their weakness, they progress WITH the tools to empower themselves, and become a compassionate, empathic light in the world and their sensitivity becomes their Super Power. Behold, the Pisces Peaceful Warrior. It's really beautiful, isn't it?
